Meet the incredible Tumble team!
Craig Heap - Olympian - Director
At the age of 9 he took up gymnastics alongside his sister, never knowing 18 years later he would be representing GB at the 2000 Olympic Games. As well as numerous British titles, in 1998 he captained the English men to their first Commonwealth Games team Gold medal and again four years later in 2002. Craig is a men’s high-performance coach, but his only involvement in elite gymnastics now is part of the BBC commentary team having covered the last two Commonwealth and Olympic games. In 2014 Craig was part of the judging panel on the BBC gymnastic show called “Tumble” where he got to work with the world famous Nadia Comaneci and the name for our centre was born.
Matt Baker - Patron
Most of you will know Matt from the BBC’s The One Show and the Rickshaw challenge raising over 10 million pounds for Children In Need. He has been covering gymnastics for the BBC for over a decade and this is where he and Craig became good friends. Some might know that he use to do gymnastics as a young lad and also from a farming family just like Craig. He is an avid believer the importance of sport and physical activity, especially gymnastics as it gave him the life skills that made him into the success that he is today. We are incredibly lucky to have someone with these values as our Patron.
Stephen Miller MBE - Patron
We are incredibly lucky to have Stephen as one of our Patrons. He has represented Great Britain for 20 years, competing in 6 Paralympic Games, 7 World Championships, and 6 European Championships – so far winning 28 international medals. in June 2016 and he was honored in the 2016 New Years’ Honours List by Her Majesty the Queen with an MBE.
In 2013, he founded SMILE Through Sport, a charitable organisation that combines the services of disability sport development activities with training and education programs. The charity aims to help more disabled people benefit from taking part in sports.
Mike Redmond - Director
Mike set up Burnley Gymnastics club in the 70’s and was the coach that got Craig our owner into Gymnastics all those years ago. He is an international performance coach that has coached both male and female gymnasts to international level and Craig was his first Olympian. He has also judged at the highest level becoming an international brevet judge, judging all over the world. He says his proudest moment “was getting Craig to the Olympics in 2000”. Mike is volunteering his time and expertise in Gymnastics to help support and develop the coaching team at the centre to become better coaches.
Paula Thomas - Olympian - Director/Head of Gymnastics
GB 2000 Olympic and international gymnast, Paula heads up our fantastic coaching team.
She is qualified from total beginner to elite performer and has a real passion for pre-school gymnastics. Paula has over 30 years’ experience within the sport of gymnastics.
Andy Lane - Director
From a sporty background his involvement in gymnastics has been from his two children who have dedicated much of their lives to this sport. He is volunteering his time and expertise in finance and project management to help Tumble become a real success within the community.
Matt Brown - Director
Matt is chartered and has 14 years’ experience of HR within all sectors of business. He is volunteering his time to support Tumble create a culture and environment where our community can enjoy, develop and engage with our most valuable asset….our people.
Suzanne Thomson - Head of Early Years
Suzanne has had almost 30 years’ experience working with babies, children and their families in the local area. She runs all the baby and toddler classes within the centre, and more recently Suzanne has been trained to deliver the British Gymnastics “Love to Move” programme tackling dementia in older people.
Ellen Penaluna - Gymnastics Coach
Ellen has been involved in gymnastics since the age of 5, competing in both Women’s Artistic and TeamGym at a national level. She has also competed for 5 years at Cheerleading and became Level 1 European Champions. Her enthusiasm and ability goes way beyond her years
Bryony Moyle - Gymnastics Coach
Bryony has been involved in gymnastics from the age of 5 and continued training and competing until the age of 18, winning a British TeamGym silver medal in 2015. She continues to compete at a high level in Cheerleading. She has an amazing ability to engage with young people.
Emma Crowe - TeamGym Coach / Welfare Officer
Emma started her TeamGym journey with BA Honors degree in Dance Choreography. In 2009 she won a bronze medal at the British Championships. She started coaching TeamGym 15 years ago under our very own Michael Archbold. During this time she has worked with gymnasts from development up to the British Championship level.
Joe Fishburn - TeamGym Coach
Joe has been doing gymnastics since he was 5 years old and went on to compete in the TeamGym discipline. He has gained 6 British Championship titles throughout the years and was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2018 TeamGym European Championships in Portugal. Joe is currently on the GB TeamGym Senior Mens Squad.
Libby- Gymnastics Apprentice

Lana Mitchinson - Gymnastics Apprentice
Lana started gymnastics at the age of 7, competing mainly in Teamgym. She started coaching at the age of 15 volunteering and then went on to complete her Level 1 in coaching and has since become an apprentice at Tumble.
Anna Fuller - Gymnastics Coach
Anna started Gymnastics at 7 years old and competed in 4 pieces and TeamGym. Anna finished her Gymnastics journey at Tumble TeamGym at 16 where she began as a volunteer coach. Anna now has her Level 1 coaching award and works in a range of areas in the centre with her main focus on TeamGym.
Michael Archbold - TeamGym Coach
Michael has over 19 years coaching experience in womens artistic and in TeamGym, over this time he has coached teams to the British Championships, winning a bronze medal in 2009
Back in 2010, he led a squad of gymnasts and coaches to the World Gymnaestrada event in Switzerland.
Amy Sykes - Gymnastics Coach

Emily Cooke - Gymnastics Coach
Emily started Team Gym at the age of 8. She competes nationally including at the British Championships where she won silver in 2021 and the English Championships where she won Gold in 2019. At the age of 16, she started volunteering and is now working on completing her Level 1 coaching award.
Yasmin Lane - Gymnastics Coach
Yaz started artistic gymnastics at the age of 4. She has competed nationally representing the North of England and internationally in Hamburg and Florida. Recently she has competed in 2021 at the Teamgym British Championships where her team came 2nd place. She is enjoying being able to use her experience to coach Gymnasts now at Tumble.
Danielle Archbold - Club Administrator
Danielle started gymnastics at the age of 6 progressing from artistic gymnastics to TeamGym at the age of 12. Danielle competed in the British TeamGym Championships for 5 consecutive years. She has a wealth of admin and IT experience and is a key member of the Tumble team.
Jessica Seager - Gymnastics Coach
Jess started artistic gymnastics at the age of 7. She competed for her region representing the north and internationally in Sweden and Hamburg where she won the rising star award with Paula as her coach. She also competed several times at the British championships until she was a senior. Until two years ago when she retired over an unfortunate injury but has since started coaching.

Charlotte Nelson - Gymnastics Coach
Charlotte started competing in artistic gymnastics at the age of 5. She competed nationally representing the North of England and internationally in Luxembourg and Hamburg where she recieved the rising star award, with Paula Thomas as her coach. An unfortunate injury stopped her gymnastics career so she took up coaching and has coached for the last 4 years.
